Limited Edition Mounted Hair Embroidery Print

$1,500.00

Limited edition archival photograph, face-mounted to plexiglass, featuring a detail of the 2003 human hair embroidery, "Threat of Heavy Weather". The original embroidery, made with the artist's hair, was exhibited at The Museum of Arts & Design in NYC, as part of the 2007 exhibition "Pricked: Extreme Embroidery". The original embroidered area was approximately 2 x 3", and took 3 months of intense work to produce, at a rate of about 3 hairs per hour.  At 12 times normal scale, the hair takes on a strange, uncanny quality. The circular shape references Victorian keepsakes, while the presentation is clean and contemporary. 28.5" round, mounted to 1/4" plexi. Cleat hanging system for secure, even hanging. Signed verso. Edition of ten. 10 lbs. Please contact the artist for international shipping rates.
